Report of the discussion 6

Topic: Do residents have to separate their trash?

・Supporters
Kazutaro: He works at the waste treatment center. He must to separate huge trash every day.
Richard: He is a professor of Kyoto university.

・Opponents
Yutaro: He is a college student.  He lives by himself.
Kozue: She has two children.
Akio: He is a top of Hamburger shop. His shop produce a lot of trash every day.

Supporter's opinion:
・Staffs at the waste treatment center have to separate huge trash every day, and that is very hard. Residents should separate themselves or pay a fee.

・There is a possibility of dioxin generation.

Opponent's opinion:
・The way to separate is complex and residents can't understand.

・It is expensive to buy the trash bag.

・Residents don't have enough recycling days. So trash collect at house or shop.

The out come of the discussion
The waste treatment center produce a manual of separating trash and provide special dust box for separating to citizens.

The center collect trash which shop produce, and the shop separate.

My opinion:
I though opponent's opinions were just selfishness. People should separate their trash by them selves.

How effective I thought the discussion
I thought  the moderate git their opinion effectivery, so I could understant easily.

Report of the discussion 4

Topic: The city is famous for illuminations. But some people proposed they should save electricity and stop illuminations. So they discussed what to do.

People who agree with stopping illuminations:
Tomomi: She is 42 years old. She came from East Japan.
Sayako: She is a college student. She is a volunteer staff at East Japan.

People who disagree with stopping illuminations:
John: He is a designer of illuminations.
Manami: She runs a restaurant which is famous for beautiful illumination. Many people come to her restaurant to see the illumination.

Tomomi and Sayako's opinion:
・There were serious an electric power shortage in East Japan so they should save electricity.
・Heating systems are important for people's health and it is difficult to cut them. But it is easy to cut electricity of illumination.

John and Manami's opinion:
・If they stopped illumination, customers would not come to Manami's restaurant and Jhon would lose his job.

The out come of the discussion:
They decided to reduce the period they decorate illumination for a week.

My opinion:
They should not stop illumination. They should collect money from people who come to see illumination and send the money to East Japan.

How effective I though the discussion was and how it could have been better:
I though they should limit themselves to a consideration of saving electricity
